The centre of Sorrento is small enough to walk around by foot with many restaurants and shops to help you pass an afternoon and evening. Local products include ceramics, wooden products, liqueurs such as Limoncello and ice cream. Infact, Limoncello and ice cream are found everywhere and are definite things to try while here.

Nightlife in Sorrento is quite lively, especially around Piazza Tasso. People wander around the streets both by foot and on mopeds, eating ice-creams and chatting to the people they meet, sitting on one of the many terraces. In the summer most people head for the outdoor Blue Mare Club on Punta del Capo, which is a very attractive club on the water front.

Travelling around the area to places such as Capri, Positano and Amalfi is highly recommended if you have more than a few days, with transport and excursions widespread and easy to navigate.
