Walking though the historic centre and around the town walls, you can see the ancient Greek-Roman influences that are still evident in via Pietà with Veniero Palace and Correale Palace, via S. Cesareo, via Padre Reginaldo Giuliani and via Tasso.

The Cathedral with the wooden chorus, the Basilica of Sant’Antonino, Museo Correale’s Saltovar collection (as well as paintings, porcelains and majorica tiles), all exhibit Sorrento’s history of teachers Marquetry. The Chiostro of San Francesco is a beautiful 14th century medieval structure with arches, while nearby is the Casa Fasulo, made famous by the poet Torquato Tasso.

The Basilico of Sant’Antonino, named after the patron saint of the city, was built in the 11th century on the site of an 9th century antique oratory and it is said his remains rest here. The interior of the church has Roman column shafts, a 11th century splendid portal with an architrave and Corinthian capital. Also, inside the church are paintings of Giovanni Bernardo Lama and Giacomo Del po.
